YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program gives you the skills you need and the support you deserve to make lasting healthy lifestyle changes.  Let's face it, if changes were easy, we'd all do it.  You've spent years developing habits that you can't expect to change overnight.  It's tough.  We can help!  Pre-Diabetes occurs when blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough for a type 2 diabetes diagnosis.  Risk for developing type 2 diabetes may be reduced or eliminated by weight loss, healthier eating and increased physical activity. This 16 week course will place you into a small group setting with a YMCA certified facilitator that will educate and stimulate you in a fun, engaging environment.  Email Rosie Miklavcic for more information.

Anthem and KEHP State Employees

All current Kentucky State employees who are insured through the Anthem/KEHP (Kentucky Employee Health Plan) are eligible to participate in the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP) as a paid preventive benefit.  The Anthem/KEHP insurance plan will pay the YDPP fee for qualifying Anthem/KEHP participants. To learn more about the Anthem/KEHP preventive benefit for the YDPP, contact Anthem/KEHP representative Julie Brown at 502-889-2141.

"YDPP has made a substantial change in my life. Since beginning, I’ve lost 25 pounds, and I completed a 5K road race and my pace was about 10-11 minutes. I hadn’t done that in almost 30 years. I have more energy & feel better. I’ve even had to get smaller waist size pants!"
